A rare 2,83-carat violet diamond, discovered in Argyle Diamond Mine, can be sold for more than $4 million in a trade in June 2016. It is known as the Argyle Violet and is polished from the 9.17 carat rough diamond.
The Argyle Diamond Mine is located in the East Kimberley region, Western Australia and is owned by the Rio Tinto Group. This mine is producing over 90% of the world’s supply of pink and red diamonds. It additionally provides champagne, cognac and rare blue diamonds.
